OpenSpace at Autodesk University and LCI Congress 2024: two weeks of innovation, connection, and collaboration in San Diego
October 30, 2024

The last two weeks have been eventful and inspiring for OpenSpace as we exhibited at both Autodesk University and LCI Congress in sunny San Diego, California. With both events held back-to-back, we had an incredible opportunity to connect with our customers—those we’re used to seeing at these annual events and some new faces we’re excited to know better.
Connecting with customers old and new
One of the highlights of these conferences was reconnecting with our customers in person. There’s nothing quite like the chance to sit down face-to-face, hear firsthand about the challenges they’re facing, and brainstorm how technology can support their needs. Meeting new people and forming relationships that we look forward to building upon was equally rewarding, as these moments open doors to innovative collaborations.
AI takes center stage
At both events, artificial intelligence was a huge topic of discussion. There was excitement about the ways AI is beginning to transform the construction industry, and we were right in the middle of those conversations. OpenSpace has been working at the forefront of AI-powered reality capture, and it was inspiring to hear from others who share our vision of how this technology can make jobsites safer, projects more efficient, and quality standards higher than ever.
Live Lab presentation at LCI Congress
A special highlight at LCI Congress was when Jeremy Atkinson from Landis Construction, presented a Live Lab session with OpenSpace’s own Wesley Dubose. The session highlighted the benefits of utilizing reality capture for Gemba walks. This session demonstrated the practical applications of reality capture in supporting continuous improvement and collaboration on jobsites. With OpenSpace’s capture technology, teams can perform highly efficient Gemba walks, enabling quick retrospective analysis to ensure best practices are maintained and progress is optimized.
Stay classy, San Diego
Lastly, San Diego itself…wow! With its perfect weather (meteorological witchcraft?) and scenic beauty, this city set the ideal stage for Autodesk University and LCI Congress. From the coastline to the downtown energy, San Diego’s charm was a fantastic backdrop for making meaningful connections.
Autodesk University and LCI Congress may be over, but the conversations we had and the connections we made will carry forward into the coming months. We’re eager to continue these discussions with our customers and new friends, working together to drive innovation forward in construction technology.
In parting, I leave you with this picture of a giant tortoise from the San Diego Zoo, who I’m certain was smiling at me. (If you haven’t been, go! Five stars, 10/10 recommend.)
