OpenSpace Helps Power Design Improve Productivity and Save Money
November 14, 2022
Power Design, Inc. is a design-build contractor based in St. Petersburg, Florida with $875 million in average annual revenue. The company works across multiple trades, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and systems technology, with more than 2,000 employees in 23 states. In order to scale sustainably and maximize efficiency, Power Design needed a solution to help standardize operations and foster collaboration—even across state lines.
In early 2018, Power Design began testing platforms to facilitate communication. It was then that the company first deployed OpenSpace. The software quickly gained momentum after initially launching at three pilot locations. Field teams admired OpenSpace’s ease of use, which required no extra work beyond operating a 360° camera, while office teams and other stakeholders appreciated its robust documentation to facilitate progress tracking, issue resolution, and greater productivity.
For Power Design, streamlining documentation, standardizing procedures, and creating visibility have created a foundation for future-proofing its growing business. In the last four years, Power Design has completely integrated OpenSpace into its operations. It is now one of three mandatory processes at every site, where weekly walks have become the norm.
OpenSpace’s implementation at Power Design has helped the company save as much as $15,000 on a single project. Power Design has also reduced travel, minimized the time required for manual operations, and become more agile, since teams can access the latest site conditions on a project from anywhere, enabling faster decision-making.
