RSGx operates across the full project lifecycle—from design and construction through commissioning, maintenance, and operations. While still a relatively young organisation, RSGx’s project portfolio has grown quickly across Australia over the past five years. That growth created a clear need: better visibility, coordination, and reporting across geographically dispersed teams.
The challenge
Clear, up-to-date view of multiple active sites
Keeping a clear, up-to-date view of multiple active sites became increasingly difficult. Project teams relied heavily on photos to track progress, but those images often lacked context. Without clear location information, it wasn’t always obvious where a photo had been taken.
Reliable visual records
At the same time, the company needed reliable visual records to support claims, variations, and commercial discussions. Traditional photo documentation lacked the consistency and traceability needed to provide clear evidence when disputes or scope changes occurred.
Compare installed work to models & drawings
As project complexity increased, so did the need to compare installed work against BIM models and project drawings. Without an integrated system, this process was manual, time-consuming, and difficult to scale.
The solution
With projects spread across regions and teams, RSGx needed a solution that could scale easily, without adding complexity to site teams’ workflow.
In August 2024, the company began evaluating reality capture solutions as part of a broader initiative to strengthen project controls and digital construction technology during a period of rapid growth.
After reviewing several platforms, the team selected OpenSpace as the best fit for live construction environments.
“With multiple projects across Australia, OpenSpace has become a key component of RSGx’s approach to improving project transparency, coordination, and documentation across geographically dispersed teams.”

The results
Clear visibility across every site
Teams now capture regular site walks with imagery automatically mapped to drawings. Project managers and remote stakeholders can quickly see whatʼs happening on-site without needing to be there in person.
Location-aware photo documentation
Every image is tied to their exact location on project drawings. No guesswork—teams can instantly understand where work was completed.
Built to scale
OpenSpace gives RSGx a consistent way to document, manage, and report on multiple projects while keeping workflows simple for field teams.
Better alignment with BIM & design
Teams can compare installed work against BIM models and drawings, helping catch discrepancies earlier and improving coordination between design and construction.
Looking ahead
As RSGx continues to grow across Australia’s infrastructure sector, OpenSpace is helping teams stay aligned, reduce risk, and keep projects moving with confidence.
